Is Amanda Knox Gulity of Murder?

On October 3, 2011 a decision made international headlines when an Italian court overturned the murder conviction of Amanda Knox. As an American Exchange student in Italy just over two years ago, and was found guilty of murder of her 2007 roommate Meredith Kercher. In 2009 when she was convicted, Knox was only 22 years old and received a 26 year prison sentence along with her ex boyfriend who was an Italian college student Raffaelle Sollecito who was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

This is how Amanda Knox’s world was turned upside down in one of the most controversial international news stories ever. On November 2, 2007 Meredith was found fatally stabbed in her bedroom of the home she shared with Knox and two other women. The investagators say that Meredith was killed the night before, and after being questioned by the police Knox who lived in Seattle Washington but was in Italy studying abroad for her junior year was arrested. She denied everything saying at the night of the stabbing she was at her boyfriend’s Raffaelle who was a computer science major at the time. While she was being questioned police say she also blamed her boss at the bar she was working at who had a solid alibi that night. The first time Knox was interviewed she had no attorney or professional interpreter and she says the police made her make the accusation against her boss and all the other statements she made.

During the yearlong trial in 2009, the Italian prosecutors charged Knox and her boyfriend and another man Rudy Guede, an Ivory Coast native, had viciously attacked Kercher in a sex game gone wrong.(Guede had a seperate speedy trial and was given 30 years in prison, but got reduced to 16 on appeal). The prosecution’s main evidence was a knife that had traces of Knox’s blood on it from the murder and found at Sollecito’s house. Knox’s blood was also found on a bra clasp that was Kercher’s. Knox’s attorney’s aruged that the bra clasp was found a month after the murder and has been contaminated crime scene, and that the knife they found at Sollecito’s couldn’t have made the wounds on Meredith’s body.

Do you think Knox was guilty or not?
