This Day in History — October 10

On this day in 1975, the famous sketch comedy show launched for the first time in New York. This is the show that made stars like Tina Fay, Jim Carrey, Chris Rock, and Eddie Murphy. SNL is the longest running and highest ranked show on late night television. Created by the Canadian-born comedy writer Lorne Michaels, this show featured a long list of memorable characters and catch phrases, and of course it wouldn’t be SNL without a long list of guest hosts running from Steve Martin who has hosted the show 14 times to Taylor Swift. This show has been pushing the boundaries also with controversial political sketches, from Tina Fey portraying Sarah Palin to Amy Poehler who portrayed Hillary Clinton in 2008.
