This Day in History — October 16

On this day in 1991 at about 12:45 in Kileen, Texas one of the deadliest shootings in U.S. history happened. George Jo Hennard drove his truck through a window of Luby’s Cafeteria in Kileen, Texas and opened fire randomly through the crowd of about 100 killing 23 and wounding 20 more people. After this Hennard committed suicide before the police intervened. This case isn’t just significant because of how many lives were taken that day, but what happened after. The restaurant stayed opened so people wouldn’t lose their jobs and a law was passed in 1995 stating that the citizens in Texas are allowed to carry their concealed weapons with them as long as they have a permit to do so.

Should students have the right to carry concealed weapons on campus?
