  1. i believe we should allow GMOs in are food because it helps us produce more food for less of the cost. a geneticly modified fish if about five times as big then a regualer samon at 18 months of age. the bigger fish also eats less then the smaller one. meaning it would cost less to feed that fish, although it would feed more people.

  2. should we allow GMOs in our food? im stuck inbetween cause if we got the technology to do the GMOs then half of me says yes because people need food and if its there as a resource then we should do it. also the salmon fish grow bigger and faster when they was modified and eat less then a regular salmon. other half says no because what if we cant stop the spread of the GMOs.

  3. Should GMO’s be in our food? Honestly I am kinda stuck in between of yes and no. From watching the video on rice, one guy does use GMO’s and one guy didnt because he wanted the more natural rice. The black rice instead of golden rice. I think that as long as there is nothing hurting us by using GMO’s in our food then I think we should continue to use it. It helps produce more food to help feed this world, and with the technology we have today we should be able to produce as much food as we can.

  4. i believe that GMOs should not be allowed in our food because even though they make us eat healthy they also make people very sick. and if they even make one person sick the we shouldn’t even consider it. normal food is also healthy and not many people will get sick from that.

    1. Well that’s not true at all, people can get sick from a variety of “regular” foods, and these “regular” foods also cost much more than GM crops. Should we ban peanuts because of the existence of peanut allergies? Of course not, because thats an entirely irrational thing to do, just like trying to stop GMO’s in food. The fact of the matter is within 30 years we will surpass our ability to feed ourselves by any means and that will be catastrophic, the only senseable path to take to ensure our survival as a species is to get off the back of GMO researchers so they can grow and test organisms to make sure they are safe as well as effective for curbing world hunger for the future, the mistake most make in this argument is seeing this as a NOW issue, when this is rather an issue which will ultimately effect the well being of the people who come after us.

  5. I do not believe that we should have GMO’s in America, because we have enough resources in America to have food that doesn’t need GMO’s. In other third world countries I do believe that it could be ok to use GMO’s, if the public agrees that they are ok with it. As the video stated the people in the third world countries do not get enough vitamin A in their diet. Vitamin A can lead to blindness and even death if you do not get enough of it. The Philippines is experimenting with adding GMO’s into their rice to add vitamin A into the rice.

  6. i believe that gmo’s could be a great help because they could bring the price of food down and help with peoples health this could end poverty but there might be some down sides to this.

  7. its a hard to pick a side because they both have their pros and cons. but if i truly had to choose i would say we should because the countries like the Philippines that lack vitamin A and are too poor to buy fruits that are rich in vitamin A so they stick to cheaper foods like rice

  8. No, I do not we should allow GMOs as we saw in the clip it has less nutrition and its not helping us its hurting us and we don’t have a choice because GMOs are in everything vegetables, meats. In the Philippines people are suffering because of genetically modified food.

  9. I believe that GMOs should be allowed. But they should be labeled that they are GMF so that people who don’t want to eat them can stay away from them. To me its harmless leaders of the creation of the GMOs say that the mutated rice they make is made just like natural rice is and has the same amount of vitamin A in both of the different rices.

    1. You’re right, labels help the solution of having to guess if it’s gmo’s or not. And if this can help world hungry or make food nutritious and save malnutrition children

  10. I believe that GMO’s shouldn’t be allowed because eating natural food is healthy. Although GMO’s may not be entirely bad, but they’re not natural. Nature has obviously done something right, so why try to change it?

  11. after watching this video i am still agenst GMO’s i feel that if food was ment to grow that big that fast or with that gean then it would. I think that we should leave the food how it is. It is posible that GMO’s can hurt people in some ways that we dont even know about yet so why would we give them to people we are trying to save it we arnt aware of all the side affects.

  12. i am in the middle about this topic and believe that they should modify food to become more available to humans around the work but then again who knows about the consequences. it would be nice if this can end work hunger but sadly that would probably not be the cast because even if the goal was to do that, nobody does anything for free if they gave away the rice who would pay the workers they need to buy food to support them self and their families

  13. I think GMOS are good . They can be good by putting curtain vitmans and can be genetically modify to be bigger and have genes that help them survive. People are scared because they think that it can make them sick.but there hasnt been a case where someone has gotten sick from it

  14. No, because we have the right to know whats in our food I would want to know what I’m eating. A GMO is the result of laboratory process where genes are taken from one species and inserted into another species.

  15. If there are a lot of mortality rates because of lack of the Vitamin A in a normal Philippine diet which consists of mostly rice (especially when you’re poor), then of course people are going to research different ways to modify the common food source (rice) so that it has the Vitamin A that these people so desperately need. Infections and measles are much more severe if you lack Vitamin A, if you cant fight off infections and what not with your immune system due to the lack of Vitamin A then you’re gonna end up very possibly dying, especially if you’re a child, children are already weaker when they’re young, imagine how much more weaker they are when they lack something in their immune system that can quite possibly save them from death. I support both sides of the argument when it comes to GM rice, but if you cannot use normal measures to naturally modify rice then GM rice might be the only choice because people are dying.

  16. No because we don’t know exactly whats in the gmo foods. Studies show that neither is there any way of predicting what effect these foods might have on other plants or on the environment in general. The opponents contended that genetic breeding is radically different from human beings.

  17. I honestly do not know. In this case, with the Vitamin A deficiency, most people in the Philippines NEED might need the golden rice. On the other hand, there might be some bad side effects that are 10 times worse than the Vitamin A deficiency. In the video, one of the scientists said that there is no proof that GMOs are harmful, but there’s no proof that GMOs AREN’T harmful. I think I would need to know a little more before I can make a decision.

  19. I feel the GMOs should be allowed to an extent. Like in the Philippines, they are trying to combine the vitamin A with the rice which is a good thing since vitamin A is very important for little kids and for pregnant women. Unlike other foods like chicken factories that shoot steroids or water into the chest of the chicken to make them bigger which is unhealthy. I think that only the Healthy GMOs should be allowed. They should also put more information on the label like if it was genetically modified for example.

GMO foods can potentially harm you.The one’s who does research on GMO does not know the effects of GMO there is nothing that proves that this new substitution for rapid growth in food can not harm you. So when you’re eating GMO foods you are basically taking a risk, the consumer have no idea of the health effects. The food is not naturally grown from its genetic genes but are inserted from other genetiic genes combining together not knowing the harm. I would want to know whats in my food and how it can affect me.

  21. It would be a good idea to just go ahead and label the foods considering those opposed to it can know just not to eat it. It’s simple, although at the same time, I don’t really get why it matters so much to people. It seems like they’re just trying to benefit us by changing the genes so I don’t really care either way. With animals though, as long as they’re in good conditions, it’s fine. That’d be cool to know too. GMO is pretty rad for my health or so it seems.

  22. I think that GMOs are just scary because people hear something new and new is always scary. I believe the scientists when they say that GMOs are safe. We’ve been eating them for years without knowing it and we are all turning out fine so why would we change it now just because we are scared of something we’ve never heard before.

  23. I definitely agree with GMO labeling. I believe in the freedom to choose between a GMO product and a non-GMO product. I feel that GMO food benefits those in third-world countries, such as the example shown in the video. However, I heavily disagree with genetically modifying animals – they are simply not ours to modify.

If your a person who has gotten a flu shot you’re contradicting yourself, think of GMO’s like a vaccine; Made to help fight disease that could kill you. GMO’s can change the world and change the way we eat. We have been eating GMO’s for years, so ask yourself has it really effected you in any way.

  27. I believe that gmo is a good idea. Being able to produce more plants quicker and cheaper makes it easier to get food faster. Also in the video they were putting more vitamin A in the rice to let people not be so sick. I think its a good idea

  28. I think we should allow it because it’s extra vitamins in food that some people actually need. Some people don’t get the vitamins they need in their regular food & diet but they need more supplements .

  29. Studies have shown that GMO’s don’t cause any known harm on people who consume them, so there really is no reason for people to object the use of them. It’s understandable to be afraid of change, but change that is as profitable as GMO’s in foods are worth whatever fear people have.
GMO’s make the product stronger, and more sustainable in their environment, without a change in flavor. The GMO’s can improve the vitamins in the product as well. Foods can be injected with GMO’s that carry important vitamins or nutrients we need.

  32. GMO’s should be allowed for the greater good of the people. When you switch genes with can prove quite helpful when it comes to crop development that can speed up production Crops and strengthening of those said crops. Now people lets be real, if you really think GMO’s are bad just think of this all the Soda and Sports Drinks you drink have So many chemicals. Cigrettes ,Dip, Cigars, Chew, Vape have more chemicals than anything else and you still put them in your mouth and suck away like its gonna give you something special.

  33. I believe that GMO should be allowed in foods, but I also believe that people have the right to know what they are eating and if they do not want to eat GMO food that shouldn’t have to. Scientific research shows that GM foods pose no threat to consumers, but a widely publicized study published in fall of 2012 that rats fed a lifetime diet on GM corn developed tumors, whereas those fed a non-GM diet did not. This added controversy and made people scared. I believe that GM foods should be allowed, but only people wanting to take the chance and eat them should eat them.

  34. If GMOs arent hurting us but helping us by giving our body the nutrients it needs then why shouldnt we allow something that can only benefit human kind. I do agree that foods should at least be labeled so that we may not what were exactly consuming. If future study’s show that they are not healthy then i wont eat them but until then if Im hungry guarantee Im eating it. Yes on GMO.

  35. Should GMOs be allowed in our foods? Im honestly on the fence about all of that. I think it gives way better food yeild meaning it gives a good quantity of food but is the amount of quantity depriving the amount of quality? I feel as if it does. Any food that is “genetically modified” is lacking originiality. I believe food should be naturally produced and naturally produced only

  36. Should GMO be in our food? When we had our debate on Kahoot I voted no because you should have the right to know what is in your food. At the same time you don’t even know what your eating because some people don’t read the nutrition labels because they rather look at how good the product is rather than knowing what’s in it. Another thing is it can cause health problems so GMO can be a issue so no it should not.

  37. Do I thinks that GMOs should be put in food? to me yes than no, because there are many produce that we eat and that most of the time we don’t know what is in the food. Many studies was put in to make sure that there is enough nutrients for people who need it, but what about the people who don’t need it? There was many studies that the foods would have a virus that would shipped off everywhere. They have also done more studies where the harmful crops also would move with the other crops cause they were a;ll being transported and that they would find ways to make things better. I would say yes and i would also say no because yes it helps other people and for the people who need it and no because there are some viruses are in there and no one knows if that virus is good for you or not because the crop is being put into more tests before they are being shipped.

I think we shouldn’t have GMO food in the US but in other countries that suffer from starvation there should be GMO food there but in the US we shouldn’t have because we don’t have a big percentage of starvation. We have a lot of homeless and that’s the only exceptions for GMO food in the US that I agree to. GMO food may have different reactions to people bodies they aren’t use to it causing more sickness then ever.

  44. Should GMO’S be allowed in our food? Im in between. They can help, but they can also destroy. yes it makes more food, in less time, which helps make more money in the demand of the food, but its also not natural, In the Philippines its only going to help them because the food they are eating doesnt have any nutrients in it naturally, and its killing them more than the artificial food will. i say yes, unless there is more study saying if it hurts you long time or not.
