  1. I don’t think anything about football should change. Yea people get hurt and can obtain brain damage, but the players of the NFL know about the dangers and know that there mental state could be damaged due to football.

  2. Football isn’t too dangerous for high school students to play because they’re safety implications such as their padding, skill groups, & rules. When a student signs up to play the game they know what can possibly happen & should be prepare to face it.

  4. Well, I would have to say yes, football is too dangerous to play in highschool. Mainly because the chances of getting a concussion or some kind of head injury is too great. However it is their life and they can do whatever they want to with it. They can take the chance if they want to.

  5. We think that they have a point that the NFL is not endanger but football its self is. The head injuries are to significant on the field. The other hand most will say its not dangerous at all. They say only a very few people ever get hurt on the field.

  6. 4/5 of our group thinks that highschool football is not dangerous because they know they are getting theirselves in to.

1/5 of our group thinks that is too dangerous because you shouldnt have to know that 1-3 players will have brain damage. Some people say that in any sport you can get hurt, but thats false because most sports have rules that dont allow players to get seriously injured.

  8. Football is a dangerous sport. It can cause people to have a brain trauma and die. Students brain has not fully developed yet and a bad hit could be the end of them. There brain is not really fully developed just yet also and there heads are getting hit witch makes it even worse.

  9. We believe that as football is right now, it is unsafe for high school. If different procedures and requirements are put in effect, such as larger fines on head-to-head tackling and teaching how to tackle more properly, then it might be reasonable. As of right now, too many students are getting hurt

  10. People blaming the domestic violence on football is just another excuse. Just because you play football doesn’t mean you can smack around your wife. Yes they may get mental diseases but a symptom of them are not to become more agressive of your loved ones. It is dangerouse when people don’t follow all the rules for safety in football, but if you do then it is definitely not as dangerous!

  11. Football is not a dangerous sport. It’s guarantee that your going to get hurt playing football because it’s part of the game. If your going to play the game then you can’t be a wimp about it. An if you don’t want to get hurt then just stop playing it. But if you are going to play football you are going to know how to play saftly.

  12. There needs to be a few changes to football in general. If a player takes a concussion, he and the one who gave the concussion need to be temporarily suspended. If a played dies to an injury sustained on the field, the culture and nature of the game need to step aside and let the law step in. Lastly, mandatory and random psych evaluations by a third party organization should be conducted.

  13. No it’s not. Because you know what your getting into when you sign up for football. They also have all the protective gear you need the keep you from getting hurt. They make footbl very safe for most age now.

  14. We believe football is a dangerous sport. However, Americans have the choice to play it. If they want to risk getting hurt, it should be left up to them.

  15. We believe football is not dangerous. As a result each player knows the injuries that could occurr while in the game. There are the aggressive players that play to try and hurt people but the authority doesn’t hardly do anything about it, meaning they just talk to them, fine them, or threaten to suspend a player.

  16. High school football is way too safe. Yes it may be rough but that’s why players wear safety pads and always have trainers/EMTs at every game.

  17. We all agree that football is a dangerous sport, but at the same time the players know that. They’re playing for the enjoyment they get out of it, and they’re willing to risk injury to do what they enjoy. All players should be aware of the potential injury. And there are proper ways to play that assist in keeping injuries to a minimum,

  18. Football isnt too dangerous. However, football injuries can change how a person think and acts and can lead to suicide if head injury is serious. They should have a class or information that informs them on what could happen before they start playing football.

  19. We feel that High School Football is still safe enough, compared to the NFL, to be played. As the book states, high school football has one half of the injuries that college football has. Even though you can still be injured in high school football, the injuries that are most likely to happen are ankle and knee injuries. The players also know the risks associated with the game, and we should let them choose whether or not they feel the sport is safe enough for them to play.

  20. I think football is dangerous, but it can be made safe so high schoolers can play and not recieve lasting damage. This can be done by fixing brain issues before they start, and better helmets.

  21. We all agree that football is a dangerous sport, frankly none of us really care. Andrew, Alyaa, Samantha, and I (Isabella) don’t play football so the subject doesn’t really effect us. Regardless of what age you start playing football there are always risks. You could walk down the street, trip, fall, and crack your head open but you don’t see people ready to suspend walking down the road. We say let the children do what they want.

  22. Half of the group think that football is not dangerous to play because you know what you are getting your self into . You signed the contract saying you know what can happen when your playing on the field.

  23. Football should not change because it has been the same for many years and people know the risks that come with it but they still play. It is dangerous but the NFL or any other football division will never change because there is always people to take the persons place if they were injured. Therefore the game will go on no matter what.

  24. Football is not to dangerous to play. But how the players play need to be changed, they need to play smarter. As in when they are charging at each other they need to go lower then the person they are charging at and also hit with their shoulder not their head. They also need to have better updated equipment.

  25. I strongly believe that football is dangerous to a certain extent. Football players are starting to commit suicide, due too so many blows to the head. Its to the point where they are starting to design helmets that protect the brain. Football players are starting to abusive their family members. Football also causes brain damage, so players don’t speak the same. I say football is okay as long as the players are careful and also follow the directions.

  26. Football in the past has always been figuring out new rules and making new equipment to make the game safer season by season. Football has always been a dangerous sport and always will be. However it is not too dangerous for high school athletes. There are injuries in every sport and always will be, and all athletes know that but we do it for the love of the game. If high schools were not allowed to have a high school football program, colleges would have a much harder time recruiting players, the dangers are in every sport. It will just take time for new rules and equipment to be made to help make the game safer.
